Justin is a character in Love, Victor. He is the roommate of Simon Spier and Bram Greenfeld in New York. He is portrayed by Tommy Dorfman.
Biography[]
Justin was raised in a heavily religious household, and had to suppress his sexuality. His parents would often make him recruit other people to their church.
Eventually, Justin started attending NYU, where he was free to come out. He moved in with several other LGBT+ roommates, such as Simon, Bram, Ivy, and Kim. Simon tells him and their other roommates about Victor, a student at Creekwood High who is struggling with his sexuality. Justin and the others help provide advice on what Simon should say to Victor.
One weekend, Victor unexpectedly comes to visit Simon after he feels distraught over kissing Benji. Although Simon is away visiting his cousin, Bram greets Victor and introduces him to Justin and the others. Justin introduces himself to Victor, and is confused when Victor pretends to be a student coming to NYU for the sports in order to downplay his struggles with his sexuality. Justin is supportive to Victor when he begins to tell them why he really went to New York, and discloses his past to Victor when he is asked if gay people like drag because it is putting on a character. He explains that he had to put on a character every day when he was part of his parents' religious movement, and that instead he finds it very liberating.
Justin and the others later take Victor to a drag show where Katya is performing, but then Victor grows upset when they talk about his kiss with Benji without him having talked about it. Victor goes outside and encounters Simon returning from his trip, asking if Simon was making fun about him, but Simon tells him that he shared Victor's experience with his friends as he did not have all the answers, such as that his parents were not religious, but that Justin's were.
