Derek is a recurring character in the Hulu series Love, Victor. He is played by Lukas Gage.
Biography[]
Derek is Benji's former boyfriend and bandmate. They broke up after Benji thought he wasn't paying enough attention to him. This was shown when Benji recreated their first date at an Italian restaurant at Brasstown Coffee Company after it had closed. Derek didn't appreciate his efforts and rushed through the meal as he was more interested in making sure they didn't miss a performance of his friend's band.
From his embarrassment at being with Benji at "a high school dance", it seems he is older than Benji and no longer in high school.
Personality[]
He is out gay man. He doesn't seem to be sentimental as he totally forgot his one-year anniversary with Benji. He claims not to believe in all the straight, hetero-normative things that society tells gay people to believe in, but it comes across as selfish and uncaring.
