The Upside of Unrequited[]
Abby makes a few small appearances in the novel, mainly having conversations via phone call, text, and Skype with her cousins, Cassie and Molly and their friend Olivia
Leah on the Offbeat[]
Abby is dating Nick, and the couple are ready to attend prom together in their senior year. Abby also applies for Georgia State and is accepted, and wants to tour the campus with Leah. Nick and Abby break up over going to different colleges and Abby not wanting to commit to a long-term relationship, though she later admits that she was just searching for an excuse as she felt that their relationship had lost its spark.
Abby and Leah visit Athens, GA, staying with one of Abby's distant family friends named Caitlin. When they are on campus, Abby kisses Leah, which shocks her friend. Abby explains that she wants to experiment as she has had crushes on other girls, but Leah reveals that she has known she is bisexual for years. Abby later arranges to talk with Leah and tells her that she came out to her cousins as "lowkey bisexual." This irritates Leah somewhat, as she thinks that Abby isn't ready to own up to her identity.
Abby and Nick attend prom together, but as friends rather than romantic dates, and he starts dancing with Taylor Metternich. Abby then confesses her romantic feelings for Leah, but Leah doesn't want to potentially hurt their other friends with their new relationship, or indulge in high school clichés. However, Abby ends up convincing her, and they agree to date, kissing each other at prom. They are discovered by Simon and Bram, and both of them come out to the couple as bisexual and that they are dating.
After graduation, Abby and Leah live together as roommates and girlfriends at college.

Trivia[]
- Her brother is never mentioned in the movie, making it seem as if she is an only-child.
- The film implies that her father is gay, bisexual, or pansexual, which lead to her parents' divorce. During Simon's imagined scenarios where all of his friends come out as straight to their families, Abby tells her mother "I like men." to which her mother responds "You get that from your daddy's side."
- While this scenario occurs in Simon's imagination, her mother's comment is based in truth, as it's later revealed in Leah on the Offbeat, that Abby is in fact not straight, and subsequently gets her non-straightness from her dad's side of the family, as her paternal aunts Nadine and Patricia (introduced in The Upside of Unrequited), are gay and bisexual respectively.
